Description

The workshop is intended for line managers and team leaders who have the responsibility for ensuring the ongoing personal development of their team members to maximise the team’s working potential.


This workshop will help delegates to obtain the knowledge and understanding that will enable them to have a clear understanding of the ‘Steps Training Process’ for carrying out workplace training, coaching or instructions.

Three Days

No formal requirements, recommend supervisory level and above.

 

Course Content

This workshop will enable delegates:

  • To carry out a training needs analysis in relation to team members and organisational needs
  • To analyse learning styles
  • To recognise barriers to ongoing personal development and training
  • To be able to plan personal development and training to meet the needs of the individual and also the needs of the organisation
  • To be able to act as a mentor in relation to personal development
  • To recognise effective and ineffective training
  • To provide positive and negative feedback – and where negative to maintain motivation
  • To analyse the effectiveness of the learning cycle

  • Analyse the occupation and prepare
  • Specify, select and appraise the people to be trained
  • Set the training objectives 
  • Plan the training programme
  • The four ‘Ps’
  • Implement the training programme
  • Check the training

Method of Assessment

Delegates will undertake a training scenario exercise based on instructional skills.
